ManpowerGroup to Support Language Trade Organization in Launch of Talent Program

The global talent firm will support a foreign language training initiative by GALA, a language trade organization, to address the growing demand for language training in business.

Washington — June 28

The Globalization and Localization Association, with the support of ManpowerGroup, announced it will launch the Global Talent Program (GTP) that will aim to highlight the need for foreign language skills in the workforce and will work with the professional language industry and other sectors to meet the demand for multilingual talent.

The GTP aims to reinforce multilingual competencies as a core requirement for today’s global workforce, as well as to build an objective, consensus-driven system for understanding, measuring and evaluating those skills.

“In today’s complex and interconnected world, business is global and talent is mobile — which means employers need talent with the unique skills to help them effectively adapt and compete in a global marketplace,” said Norman Newton, vice president of ManpowerGroup Solutions Language Services. “Individuals with multilingual capabilities will be increasingly in demand, which is a big advantage in a tight job market.”

As part of the focus on multilingual talent, ManpowerGroup recently consolidated its global language offerings into ManpowerGroup Solutions Language Services. “Without language skills or other means to bridge linguistic communication gaps, anyone in the workforce is at a disadvantage,” Newton said. “Language competencies support borderless talent that will thrive in the 21st century job market.”
