Rancho Mirage, Calif., Sept. 30, 2013 —The winners of the 2013 Learning In Practice Awards were announced Monday by Chief Learning Officer magazine, during the Fall 2013 Chief Learning Officer Symposium. Established a decade ago to recognize transformational and visionary leaders in enterprise education, the coveted awards honor industry professionals who have demonstrated excellence in the design and delivery of employee development programs.
During a special awards dinner, gold, silver and bronze Learning In Practice Awards were presented in two categories. Practitioner awards went to chief learning officers and qualified senior learning executives for their leadership in developing and executing enterprise education initiatives. Provider awards were given to qualified service providers, vendors and consultants for their work on behalf of a client organization.
In addition, each year one outstanding learning executive is singled out to receive the prestigious CLO of the Year honor — the industry’s equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. For 2013, the top honor went to Rob Lauber, vice president of Yum! University at Yum! Brands Inc., the largest restaurant company in the world. Selected by a blue-ribbon panel of his peers — the nine previous CLO of the Year winners — Lauber was singled out for leading the evolution of a global corporate university charged with training and developing 1.4 million employees in more than 130 countries and territories.
