Tracking technology in the workplace is getting more widespread and sophisticated, reports the Wall Street Journal this week. Office workers are used to having every keystroke tracked by employers in an effort to ensure they are spending most of their vital hours on work and not browsing the Web. But an increasing number of blue-collar workers — the Journal article uses truck drivers and maintenance workers as examples — are finding their every move and location being tracked. The Journal article says technology has gotten so sophisticated that employers are able to not only track the location of truck drivers, but they can also tell if they’re wearing their seat belt.
