In the late-1970s, Bill Rasmussen had one of the Top Ten all-time best ideas in sports broadcasting history. And in the four decades since, his idea has become a household name.
In 1978, Rasmussen (@Bill_ESPN) was fired from his job working for the New England Whalers (now the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes). In the face of adversity, he took a $9,000 credit card cash advance to create ESPN, the world-famous sports television network that is currently valued at $66 billion. Today, Rasmussen is considered the “Father of Cable Television.”
Adversity is bound to strike at some point in everyone’s life. The question is: will you bow to the circumstance, or will you use the experience to find the leadership qualities within you to achieve rather than give up? Whether looking at your career as an individual or more broadly on the path of a company or nonprofit, Rasmussen, author of the best-selling book, "Sports Junkies Rejoice! The Birth of ESPN," shares tangible leadership advice as only he can. His presentation is gripping, insightful and sure to affect the bottom line in every sense of the term.
Rasmussen’s presentation, “Leadership from Adversity: Opportunities for Reinvention in the Modern Age,” is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at 1:15pm.
During this keynote, attendees will:
- Gather leadership advice for weathering times of adversity.
- Explore how moments of adversity and lead to workplace innovation.
Rasmussen’s presentation is sure to inspire. We hope you’re there in Miami to enjoy it with us.
Until next time!
