When it comes to learning and development opportunities, what people are looking for hasn’t fundamentally changed, says Jarin Schmidt, chief experience officer at Credly. People want to be in a place where they feel they are growing, where they are being challenged and where they have autonomy to push their ideas forward. They also want to feel like they are a part of the conversation when it comes to their development and that they get to help dictate their goals. But the expectation, now more than ever, is on employers to provide the benefit of a culture of learning and to make sure they are dedicating time and resources to helping employees develop skills beyond the current tasks they may be responsible for — and to document or display that they value it when someone accomplishes those new skillsets and achievements through digital badges and credentials.
