Liz Loutfi: How can HR leaders leverage their internal talent to build the skills they need for the future?

Will Clive: Yeah, again, I think the key here is intentionality. What I see a lot of companies do is they will go get learning resources and just provide access to tools for team members. But they maybe haven’t been super intentional about thinking through what the strategy and the needs of the business are, where are the talent and skill gaps and then going and building development programs specifically targeted at those business objectives. That’s what needs to happen.

Liz Loutfi: Yeah, as we all know, I feel like more and more research nowadays is pointing to the benefits of having a skills based learning strategy and development strategy for your workforce to include upskilling programs and to establish careers and pathways for career mobility, or all learners of all kinds. So it’s just a really interesting conversation. I remember when we were defining what upskilling was, maybe just like four years ago. And now it’s something that we really just can’t avoid talking about on a day to day basis when we talk about the role of the learner and the role that they have within the organization.
