“This is not a talk where we’re going to give you all the answers or tell you that we have this whole thing figured out, because we absolutely don’t,” said Rebecca Stern, director of learning and organizational design for Udemy, as she opened an October 16 session at the 2023 CLO Symposium. “But that’s OK to us. Because at Udemy, we have two values that are really important, which is courageously experimental and always learning. So we’re going to lean into those values in today’s session, and we’re going to be really vulnerable and share with you where we’re at on that journey, what we’ve learned thus far and how we’re ‘navigating next.’”
The session, “The Skills-Based Organization: Navigating Next,” was led by Stern and Udemy CLO Melissa Daimler, both who were eager to share their extensive insights and perspectives on the topic of transitioning toward a skills-based organization.
To kick off this important and timely discussion, Stern and Daimler began by exploring the why, what and how — why the transformation toward a skills-based organization now, what is a skills-based organization and how do we identify where we are at on that journey and where we are going.
