Every job has some level of stress, but if your goal is to keep stress as low as possible and still have a rewarding career, some jobs are much more attractive than others, according to a new report.
Audiologists, hair stylists, jewelers and tenured university professors lead the list of great jobs where stress isn’t an issue, according to a new CareerCast report on the least and most stressful jobs of 2014. Seamstress/tailor, dietician, medical records technician, librarian, multimedia artist and drill press operator round out the nation’s least stressful jobs of 2014.
Jobs that require unpredictable conditions and high-stakes situations — enlisted military personnel, firefighters and airline pilots, for example — were among the most stressful of 2014, according to the report.
Audiologist, which scores as the least stressful job of 2014, helps a wide variety of patients with particular hearing needs and can assist them over the course of a lifetime. Other low-stress health care jobs also bring the satisfaction of aiding others, such as medical records technicians, who keep track of the history of and care of patients, and dieticians, who assist people with achieving a healthier lifestyle.
Landing a less-stressful job often requires a higher level of education. Of the 10 least-stressful jobs in the new Jobs Rated report, half require at least a bachelor’s degree, according to the report.
