Austin, Texas, March 18, 2013 — Yum! Brands CEO David Novak Discusses Developing Global Leaders During Opening Keynote

The Spring 2013 Chief Learning Officer Symposium kicked off today, with a clear message about the strategic advantages of a strong leadership development program. Speaking to more than 300 chief learning officers, corporate executives, human capital management experts and learning practitioners from around the world, David Novak, chairman and CEO of Yum! Brands Inc., opened the proceedings with a keynote presentation titled “Taking People With You: The Only Way to Make Big Things Happen.”

Recognized as one of today’s best-performing CEOs by Harvard Business Review, Novak directs strategy for the company’s five global brands, more than 37,000 restaurants in 117 countries and 1.4 million employees. In his keynote address, he shared secrets of the unique leadership program he developed and uses extensively with Yum! managers and franchisees to build leadership skills and support global growth.

Novak is just one of a diverse range of experts and learning leaders who will be sharing their insights at the international conference, which is focused on the theme, “Home on the Range: Learning for a Globalized Workforce.” Named the Best Leadership Development Event in 2011 and 2012 by Leadership Excellence magazine, the CLO Symposium is one of the premier conferences for workforce development professionals. At the three-day event, being held March 18-20 at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, attendees will examine ways in which new business realities, technology advances and the breaking down of traditional borders and boundaries are altering the delivery of learning and development.
