Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) is introducing a management track to its master’s degree in cyber security. The first classes begin this summer.
Tailored for professionals with strong technical backgrounds interested in managing computer security, the management track curriculum comprises three courses worth nine credit hours.
It covers fundamentals of information security management including risk management, legal issues, policy and operational best practices, as well as business principles driving security decisions.
It integrates state-of the-art information on security technology with insightful management techniques. Industry experts explore how to close vulnerability gaps left by developers, system managers, company personnel, customers and unknown outside forces.
Those who complete the program will be capable of assuming positions such as information technology (IT) risk manager, IT security manager and chief information security officer.
The program is available on NYU-Poly’s Brooklyn campus as well as worldwide from the school’s e-learning unit, NYU-ePoly.
Last November, the Sloan Consortium recognized NYU-Poly’s cyber security virtual degree as the nation’s “Outstanding Online Program.” More than half of students in NYU-Poly’s cyber security master’s degree program are enrolled in its online courses.
