In my comprehensive study of global diversity, the most important and consistent issue facing global organizations in every geography was the promotion and inclusion of women. A recent study on The Glass Ceiling Index by the Economist demonstrated where women have the best chances of equal treatment at work.
Twenty-seven countries were compared and the most inclusive countries were Norway, Sweden, Finland and Poland, with Switzerland, Japan and South Korea at the bottom of the index. The U.S. ranked 17th and Britain was ranked 22nd. The most pronounced differences were the number of women who have jobs, women in senior management or board membership, pay gaps and the percentage of women in their legislative bodies.
In all countries, women were paid less than men. Countries continue to lose the full contribution of more than half of their population.
