About Chris Bower

Chris Bower heads the Center of Learning at General Motors — the learning organization charged with serving wholesale and retail team members for all of GM’s North American brands — and also leads its global training initiatives. He has enjoyed a multidiscipline career during his 25 years with the company, working in training, retail strategies, field operations and targeted marketing. Bower has transformed the team by bringing in a performance improvement mindset that keeps the learners’ needs front and center. This effort to create a high-impact learning organization has resulted in not just improved business results but also in recognition through many industry awards. Most notably, Bower and team were recognized as a Training magazine Top 125 Learning Organization in 2017 and they also received two Gold Chief Learning Officer Learning In Practice awards in 2018 for Business Impact and Business Partnership. Bower holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He has lived and worked in England, Germany and the United States.
