About Jim Irvine

Jim Irvine currently serves as the global program manager for Nissan Global Learning & Development and as dean of Nissan’s Leadership & Professional Development Colleges.

Irvine started his employment at Nissan in 1999. As the leader of the Global Learning & Development team, he is responsible for the systems, content, design and delivery of leadership and professional development training globally.

Before joining Nissan, Irvine was the director of testing and assessment services (1997-99) at Strategic Processes Group, a Dallas-based group of advisers with subject matter experts in executive leadership, executive development, and business performance. Irvine also served as senior consultant of assessment, training, and development at Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development (1994-97), a Dallas-based consulting company. As a management consultant, Irvine has provided assessment and 360-degree feedback to a wide range of companies including Atmos Energy, Blockbuster, BlueCross, Citizens Telecom, CSX/Seagate/SeaLand, Lennox, Memorex-Telex, Owens-Corning, Sprint, Texas Instruments, and G.E. Aircraft.

Irvine holds a bachelor’s in business administration and in psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University, a master’s in industrial and organizational psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a doctorate in organizational leadership from University of Phoenix. He is a member in good standing of the American Society of Training and Development and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Irvine’s training and organizational development experience includes conducting sessions of “Speed of Trust” (Franklin Covey) and “Situational Leadership II” (Blanchard) among others. Irvine has also published scientific peer-reviewed articles and co-authored a book, “Your Résumé Sucks” (2006). Additionally, he holds many assessment certifications, including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Predictive Index, Insight 20/20, Strong Interest Inventory, DISC , Occupational Personality Questionnaire, Motivation Questionnaire, and Managerial Assessment of Proficiency. Overall, Irvine has 35 years leading and managing others in the training and organizational development field. He has also been coaching judo since 1983 producing several international medalists and a member of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team.
