Katherine Whalen has spent the past decade working in various HR roles at Humana, a health and well-being company headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, focused on making it easy for people to achieve their best health. Most recently, she has led the strategy, design and execution of career pathing and development processes, programs and resources for Humana’s 43,000 employees. Previously, she led the enterprise learning and development team at Humana, directing enterprise leader development, building Humana’s leadership brand, and enterprise development architecture.
Before joining Humana, Whalen worked for Nielsen Media Research, best known for their world famous TV ratings research. She was part of the team that launched the groundbreaking Nielsen NetRatings, the first internet tracking research panel.
Whalen has more than 20 years of experience in talent management and development in corporate and nonprofit settings. She holds a master of education degree in training and organization development from The University of Louisville, a master’s certificate in Consumer Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Louisville.Whalen is passionate about child advocacy and serves on the board of directors for CASA, an organization that provides volunteer advocates who are committed to work on behalf of abused and neglected children involved in the court system.
